Today is Disneyland’s 62nd birthday and the park is looking better than ever! Throughout the years the park has stayed true to Walt Disney’s original dream, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world”. And grow it has; originally opening with 5 themed lands and 20 attractions, that number has soared over the years, including fan favorites such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, and Star Tours. Continuing with the ever-evolving theme, the highly anticipated Star Wars Land is currently under construction, scheduled to open sometime in 2019, bringing with it brand new attractions and restaurants.
Fantasmic, the Disneyland Railroad, and all Rivers of America Attractions have also been closed for some time to allow for changes that accommodate the new Star Wars Land, but starting tonight one of those beloved attractions will return to the Magic Kingdom. Yes, don’t miss the premier of the all-new Fantasmic, the classic nighttime water spectacular will have the same story line but with improved quality and effects and some brand-new scenes, one of which will feature Aladdin and Jasmine soaring over the clouds during “A Whole New World”.
That might be all Disneyland has in store for its birthday but that doesn’t conclude the return of attractions for the month of July. On July 30th park-goers will be able to once again enjoy Rivers of America Attractions including a ride on the Mark Twain and Columbia. Also returning that day, the Disneyland Railroad. You can expect longer lines for these usually empty attractions as Disneyland has added new views along the riverfront and railroad track.
If you’re heading to the park today keep an eye out for some small celebratory events going on throughout the day such as specialty desserts or meet and greets and be prepared for larger than normal crowds!
