Tabla for Two is a musical duo consisting of Masood Omari and Abigail Adams Greenway. Masood has created original compositions drawing from rich musical traditions, blending classical Eastern beats with Western style to produce a powerful fusion for the tabla and harmonium. Many who have heard this music describe it as mesmerizing, energizing and transcendental. It is without a doubt unique! Masood Omari Masood Omari is a tabla master in the Punjab lineage. He was born in Ghazni, Afghanistan and received his gurmani (mastership) in 2002 from his ustad (most respected teacher and master) Araf Chishty in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Punjab lineage is a strict, highly disciplined school of tabla. Masood shares this lineage with Zakir Hussain, the most well-known tabla player in the world today. Masood has accompanied some of the greatest classical Afghani and Pakistani singers on stages in Europe and America. His playing is powerful and graceful. Masood has composed exciting original compositions blending classical Eastern beats with Western style, producing a powerful fusion for the tabla. Besides playing the tabla, Masood is also proficient at playing the dholak, the harmonium and he is a talented. Abigail Adams Greenway Abigail is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania and is now living in the Washington DC area. She went from a career in visual arts to a career in music once she met her teacher, Masood Omari. After devoting years to the intense study and practice of classical Eastern music, Tabla for Two was formed. Abigail has been a lifelong lover of all kinds of music, especially classical (both Western and Eastern), world beats, avant garde and jazz. Coming to tabla has been a natural evolution of these interests. Her art has always been imaginative and uniquely expressive, reflecting her colorful nature.
