VASHT Vasht is a non-religious, non-political and non-profit foundation established in California in 2016 to produce and promote Iranian plateau ancient arts, wisdom and culture for the benefit of the community at large. Our organization aims to enhance the general understanding and knowledge, through the use of sacred body movements and illustrations of a region that is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. Vasht is directed to reviving ancient divine virtues "the mother of all arts" to save them for future generations.  Director: Soha Sharif Soha founded Vasht as a non-profit organization in Los Angeles in 2016 with the goal of keeping the wisdom and knowledge of dance for the next generation and preserve the culture and arts of the ancient Iranian plateau. Soha Sharif was born in Iran, and she absorbed the richness of the ancient culture. Despite growing up in a modern society, she strongly touched by ancient traditions, including distinctive dance forms, and inspired by Persian traditional aesthetics.  Soha worked assiduously to explore and rediscover the obscure roots of this ancient dance tradition and its special forms. Besides her passion for dance, Soha earned a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering and a MBA. She studied psychology and the work of Carl Jung. Moreover, she is a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) technician. She has been active in research and development in the field of Robotics for many years. Through these various disciplines, Soha has explored the functioning of the human brain and the qualities of human movements. Seeking to grasp the wider context of dance, Soha closely studied dance forms in Iran and various regions surrounding Iran, including India, where she spent time learning Bharata Natyam. After many years of traveling and studying among various ethnographic groups, she has amassed a large repertoire of traditional dances and extensive knowledge of traditional costumes, rites, and customs.
